whirlwind weekend
phew. it's been crazy busy around these parts! nothing in particular really, just normal busy-ness i suppose. we had a nice (yet cold) weekend that entailed alot of spring cleaning, working in the sweatshop, keeping up with toddlers, and pacifying babies. the week isn't necessarily feeling less busy at this point, but since it's just monday there is still hope. not that busy is bad. it's just busy, you know. anyway, back to regular blogging soon!

frosty friday
it really doesn't look much like the end of March around here lately. we just got our first big snowfall since december! hard to tell from the pictures, but we got about two feet this week, with more forecasted for the weekend. being that it was such a mild winter, we really can't complain... as long as it's not this snowy for the next two months of course. happy friday!

sylvi at four months...
... is just about as sweet as can be. sylvi had her four month well baby visit this morning and got a clean bill of health. she weighs 12lbs 4oz (25th percentile) and is supposidely 23in long (10th percentile). i say supposidely because she just seems so long to everyone who sees her! and being that she was in the 50th percentile for length two months ago, something tells me that measurement might be a little off! either way, she's happy and healthy and doing all the things she's supposed to be doing at this age. the doctor recommended keeping her on the reflux meds, as is, until atleast 6 months and then re-evaluating. while she does seem to be improving in the tummy department, she's still pretty sensitive to what i eat. hopefully by the time we introduce her first foods and she is sitting upright more the reflux will be less of a problem. in the meantime, all is well and she's her normal, happy self!

bathtime: spectator sport
bathtime around here can be at any time of day. if it's a long day with no nap, bathtime is usually as soon as isa gets up (or comes out of her room, as it were). this keeps alot of the late afternoon fussies at bay and gives all of us a nice little breather. it's just as good for play as actual bathing! lately isa has been requesting that sylvi come and watch her take a bath too. this is the latest manifestation of big sisterhood-- sylvi must watch isa do everything! but the littlest one doesn't seem to mind at all and is relatively entertained by the isa bath process. good thing.

sylvi blue eyes
it was about time for a sylvi photo session, so we took advantage of warmer weather and nice light this morning. as you can see, her eyes are getting alot lighter and are most definitely blue now. and she's just as sweet as the pictures suggest! sylvi continues to be a really happy, mellow baby. she loves her big sister more than anyone else and gives the biggest of smiles. this week, she actually started chuckling and giggling on the phone with daddy! sweetness beyond words.

here a toot there a toot, every where a toot toot

kitchenista kid
as we've blogged about before, isa really loves helping out in the kitchen. it has become sort of a weekend ritual around here that isa gets to cook something-- whether it's pancakes or stew or stir fry. this morning it was soup in the crock pot and the goose was more than happy to take part. for her part, sylvi was content to sit back and soak up the action, with some occasional smiles of course.
i've heard that children who are allowed to take part in cooking often become more adventurous eaters. this seems to ring true with isa and we are enjoying having her eat dinner with us again (as in, she eats what we eat). having her help in making the meal seems to have her back to her more open-minded toddler self when it comes time to actually eat it too!
now before anyone gets worried, isa has learned to be very careful around various dangers in the kitchen. she knows not to get close to knives and that she is only allowed to be near the stove when we say it's ok ;)

another new park!
For being a small town, Lander does have several great parks for kids. Isa and the Daddy explored another one this fine Spring morning. Sylvi hung out at home for a nap with the Mommy, and we rode in the trailer up to Dillon Park. Isa is becoming pretty independent now at parks, she can usually get around just fine her self and have a great time. The new frog boots went along for most of her adventures this morning, even though she wasn't wearing them. The spiral slide was the hot item this time - many solo trips up and down.
raining boots
as requested, here are some pictures of isa in her "raining boots" as she likes to call them. these arrived in the mail yesterday from bubba and queen, and she hasn't taken them off since. what about sleeping, you might be asking yourself? well, she slept in them too. since trying to change her out of her boots provoked a half hour tantrum, it was a no-brainer that the boots must stay on. all night if need be. the new green froggies reminded isa of her pink cat boots from last year, so not only must she be wearing them on her feet-- she also needs a pink one in each hand. it's raining raining boots around here.

warm up wednesday
ah yes, unseasonably warm weather is a nice treat. it was already 52F this morning at 9am. that's down right odd. but you will hear no complaints from me about it! all this warm weather, and an hour on the phone booking tickets for a spring vacation, was motivation to find some pictures from last year's beach trip. trying to deal with airlines via the phone is like making yourself go bald. slowly. by pulling out one strand of hair at a time. snarky agents who speak very little english certainly don't help matters either.
oh but i digress! we're headed south at the end of april, for some even warmer weather, some good visiting with the grandparents, and to go to the beach! isa is so excited about the whole thing she can hardly stand it. can't say i blame her.

life maintenance monday
today was a very monday kind of day. you know, those days that seem to be filled with life maintenance tasks... bank accounts, being put on hold, paying bills, yaddy yaddy yadda. might have something to do with the hour i spent at the bank this morning trying to deal with a lost/stolen wallet. sigh. note to self: don't misplace/lose/let your wallet be taken ever again. not only is it a royal pain in the butt for your personal finances, but also a very large pain for your business doings as well.
so with that kind of start to the day, we really needed to get out and do something. anything. as luck would have it, we're experiencing some unseasonably warm weather here in the cowboy state. so we took advantage of the opportunity to head to the park! the park! we haven't been there for a good mitten-free play session in a long time. we were seriously overdue for this trip, and it was enjoyed by all.
