after reading a friends blogs (waves to michelle) i was inspired to do a little post about bathtime around here. it's really amusing for all of us and an important part of isa's day. and so, quite blog worthy.
for starters, isa LOVES her bath. really. as soon as she is done eating each night and she signs all done (or we ask her and she nods), she signs bath. doesn't matter if it's 6pm or 8pm... the girl wants her bath as soon as she's done. so off we go. half the fun is actually getting to the bathroom. we sheds her clothes as fast as possible, swings her arms back and forth (freedom!), shivers and makes the "ccooooold" face, and then runs around stomping and prancing for a few minutes. we call these the prebath jitters and man are they cute. then we hit the tub (or shower, which is more common actually). she has started to high step her way into the tub... i mean literally hiking her tiny, short leg up and over the side (we are talking above her head). once she's there, she has several stacking cups waiting, along with some washclothes and a rubber duckie. she has a grand time rearranging and stacking and splashing until the water gets cold. we tell her it's time to go night night and it's time to go. so we watch the water go down the drain, she sticks her hand down there a few times and we're outta there.
her hext favorite part involves combing her hair. or something like that. to avoid the dreadlocks in the back of her head, we are pretty consistant with combing her hair after a bath. and being that she likes to do everything herself... she grabs the comb and goes to town. while it doesnt often help, it sure is cute.
by the time we get to the bedroom and half dressed for bed, she is already yawning. success. and very sweet in the process.
this is the story of Goose and Roo, two sisters and their adventures in this great big world.

cleaning the memory card...
this one is for the grandparents, who seemed to appreciate the last cleaning of the memory card! note isa's new perch in the first photo... where better to do your reading and eat your snack than on the coffee table? and the rest are "out takes" from another photo shoot. and yes, she is teething like it's her job, as you can see from the constant "fingers in mouth" pose.

winter bird
nothing like a little winter goose to model the new winter bird tee eh? the mommy has a new favorite design! and a new favorite technique to get photos of said design without any fuss from isa. while i cannot divulge my secret in full, let's just say that there is a little old macdonald involved. along with a much loved and well used gift from papa bubba and queen. enjoy!

Happy Fifteen Months Isa!
This is a little Happy Birthday and Post-Turkey Day wrapup. Yesterday was actually Isa's fifteen month bday but amidst all of the hussle and bussle and cooking of food, we didn't get a chance to post. It was a nice Thanksgiving and we enjoyed the stress-free dinner with good friends, who whipped up one good bird and lots of other traditional Thanksgiving fair. Yum. Miss Baby had her fill of everything but was most pleased with the mashed potatoes... no surprise there.
So, what's new with Miss Baby (aka: the Big Girl) lately? Alot actually. She is not much of a baby anymore and can run and climb and throw temper tantrums with them best of 'em. She seems to understand almost everything we say, particularly when words are directed at her. Although we think part of her frustration (in addition to now constant teething) is that she wants to be more grown up than she is. And she can't tell us so. Like eating pears like a big kid (notice that right hand), sitting in the big chairs, etc. She os also recognizing pictures of herself too, which is pretty amusing. She is actually asking to see the image of herself in the camera in this photo. She will scream YAYA, her word for baby, until you show her the screen-- at which point she grabs it and pulls it up to her face and smiles and kisses it. We hope it's more of a cute baby thing than over the top ego! Guess we'll have to wait and see on that one!

lights, camera... tantrum?
being that isa is who she is, she is often the unlucky model for all of the new shop items. getting isa to cooperate for photos is like pulling teeth and usually involves bribery with snacks, cellphones, and the like. and being that tantrums are a regular fixture around the house these days (but not at the babysitter, who thinks she is a perfect little angel, of course) these little shoots are no exception. rarely does she treat the mommy to a fun and easy photo session. but on this occasion she did, mainly because willow was there too, and i just happened to get some decent pictures. the idea was to come up something worthy of reprinting for christmas cards. while the jury is still out on that one, there were some very cute results anyway. i like the second one the best. it's like she is saying, "here, do my profile. see that pout? that's my best look." enjoy!

friday night adventure...
...in this house? it means a little do it yourself home improvement. tonight's mission was to pull up that awful carpet in our bedroom. seeing as our room has gotten no love since we bought this house, we thought it was about time to get to work on it. and the first thing to go was that carpet. we had very low expectation on this one and we agreed that no matter how bad the floor might be, we would throw down some rugs and call it good for now. with a one hundred year old house, you just never know what you might find. so... drumroll please... we were ecstatic to find gorgeous hardwood floors underneath. in super condition! score! we knew there would be wood, but we had no idea what it might look like. to our surprise, it only needs some minor repairs-- ones that can be fixed in no time! seriously people, look at the (poor quality) photos, is that major improvement or what? the next thing on the list will be to actually buy some grown up furniture. like another dresser or an armoire and hopefully a nice bed too. but unless we have equal amounts of luck with a money tree spouting up in the backyard, those changes might take a little more patience.

who will be the lucky winner?
were you ever one of those lucky people who just happened to go through the grocery line at the right time? you know, be the 100th customer... lights flash, confetti flies, you win something grand, etc? as for me, i have never won anything like that. but you just might have another chance! huh? get to the point eh?
Mountain Aven Baby is about to hit the 100 mark (as in, online sales) and who ever ends up being the lucky 100 gets a FREE Christmas onesie or tee-- either peace doves or mod christmas trees. In the infant or toddler size of your choice! Sweet. Go check it out and maybe, just maybe, you'll be the lucky winner :-)

way back wednesday...
i was going to post some recent stats this morning but then realized that it'd be a while since we did a little photo flashback. so here you go. i may have posted this one before, but it's good enough for a repeat. this was isa on her first day at home, somewhere around 5lbs. so little.
if you add 14lbs to that, you get the current day goose. she now weighs 19lbs 8oz (with a wet diaper) and is about 28.5 inches tall. still gracing the 5th percentile, but growing like a weed none the less. good job little goose!

she's back!
the goose is back, ladies and gentlemen. she isn't full strength yet and she's still hurting some at night but all in all she is a new kiddo. thank god. turns out she has an ear infection and maybe roseola, though we are not so sure about the virus at this point. but after waiting for-e-ever at the doctor's office with a temperature of over 105F (don't even get me started on that one!) and some antibiotics, she is starting to get back to her old self. temper and all. and the daddy is back in town too, which makes everything better. and as if that were not enough, she is getting her second tooth. ok, check that off the list. check.
note: there is a cute goosey video to come as well, assuming google gets their act together anytime soon. *smirk*

a lysol bath, anyone?
ok. joke's over. not funny anymore.
the sickness prevails. although this time it seems entirely different. isa woke up with a fever of 103F this morning. terds! she is actually in a surprisingly good mood though and doesn't look very sick, other than the red cheeks. we think it's roseola, as her buddy bennett just got over it.
yes, we called the doctor. yes, she is fine. yes, it's under control. don't expect much blogging until this passes. thanks.

cleaning the memory card...

words of the day:
whoa.
wow.
meow.
all done.
cup.
apple.
most of these are new, as of today (ok, only the last two really). some days she talks, some days she doesn't. today was a talking day.

the halloween wrap up...
well, that was anti-climatic. lets hope that isa's halloween, or lack there of, does not send her to the therapist's couch later in life. we are banking on making it up to her on future occasions.
we are still sick. i don't remember having a cold that was this miserable for a week... i mean, sure they stick around. but normally it's pretty bad for a day or two then it gets better and then before you know it, the cold is gone. but not this booger. so, need less to say, we did not go the planned halloween playdate in the park, or trick or treating. boo. hoo. although isa did wear her duck costume around the house all afternoon, repeating yelling "kack, kack." which in my benadryl induced stupor i finally realized meant, "quack, quack." she was a duck afterall!
we had a few trick or treaters as well. and just the right amount of candy (i.e. no left overs to gourge ourselves on today). but 7 of 10 of the "kids" knocking on the door were atleast 16 years old. what's up with that? i remember going door to door on halloween as a teenager collecting money for unicef but i surely don't remember begging for candy. luckily the last batch of actual children were redeeming and well under 16 years old. and they took the very last snickers :-)
