settling in

here are some pictures of the new house in progress-- key word: progress. it's nowhere near done, hence the bare walls and random boxes and what not. but this is for those of your who were going to write us out of the will if we didn't get some pics up asap ;)
because we like to make things complicated, we painted this room (almost entirely, though there is some touching up to do) as we were moving in on friday. it used to be salmon pink with horribly graying trim... it was not pretty. since it's the first thing you see when you in the door, and the heart of the house, we knew we couldn't stand to move into it and be happy with the existing paint job. it cost a small fortune and a whole lot of time, but it was well worth it! the room will look alot different when it's totally done (i.e more built ins, no tv on the mantle, etc) but you can get the idea here. i have to say, it's definitely my favorite part of the house so far.

  1. A-MA-ZING...It looks beyond fabulous. Can't believe what a difference the wall color and white trim make. I LOVE the old buffet...such a perfect "room divider". I think you have done a remarkable job to be this settled SO quickly. You and Phil deserve a "kick back and relax" vacation. See you soon. Safe travels.

  2. yeah, the buffet was a total score. the hardware is on the way. just need to stain it and add the knobs and it's mostly done. not bad for $10!
