cold winter blog fodder

it's felt like a particularly cold winter as of late, which means that we are itching for things to do inside. as much as we try to get the girls out and about during the winter, sometimes it's just too cold. so one such activity is checking out the regional flora/fauna exihibit at the Wyoming Game and Fish Department. it's actually an impressive display for an office building! there are tons of animals on exhibit, as well as interactive stations where kids (and adults) can touch various pelts, pick up antlers and horns, hear bird calls, make tracks, etc. i've taken isa before, but this was sylvi's first visit. not surprisingly, she LOVED it and spent much of her time pointing and meowing at the top of her lungs! she seems convinced that any furry animal is a cat, and at this point we are not arguing with her! for isa's part, she is a bit more reserved. it's actually hard to tell if she is awed by it all or a little scared. if you ask her, she will tell you that she is happy and not scared, but she also won't let go of my hand and takes a few minutes to warm up to the place. after a few minutes of checking things out, she took a coloring page from the table and said, "Mommy, let's go home now. It would make me happy to go color this bat hawk." Can't argue with that eh?

unfortunately, my camera battery died about two minutes after we arrived, so these are the only three pictures i got. luckily they turned out ok! so there you have it, cold winter day blog fodder :)

  1. I continue to be amazed at the variety of interesting places in Lander...children's museum, ice skating, the park, and now this. You can tell by Isa's expression she is a bit bewildered by the animals. Love her response about the color sheet. I love you all. THANKS for all the pictures lately. Nanny

  3. i know, right? so random (and a well kept secret apparently). i wouldn't have known if two good friends didn't work for Game & Fish. it's totally free, by the way, and will entertain the little one for a long while... sweeeeet.

  4. The bewilderment may be because she knows the animals are not alive anymore.. they are much more enthralling when they are alive...lol
I'm glad she was noticing something is "different". xoxoxoxox
